Golden Milk Turmeric Latte
A warming Ayurvedic golden milk with fresh turmeric, ginger, and a full spice rack of anti-inflammatory goodness. The Thermomix grinds fresh roots and froths it latte-smooth in one bowl.

Ingredients
- 15 g fresh turmeric root, peeled and roughly chopped
- 10 g fresh ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 cinnamon stick, broken in half
- 3 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
- 1 pinch freshly grated nutmeg
- 2 black peppercorns
- 10 g coconut oil
- 400 ml coconut milk
- 100 ml water
- 20 g honey
Method
Preparation
- 1 Add turmeric, ginger, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and peppercorns to mixing bowl. Grind 15 sec/speed 10.15s / sp10
- 2 Scrape down sides of bowl with spatula.
- 3 Add coconut oil, coconut milk, water, and nutmeg. Insert butterfly whisk. Heat 10 min/70C/speed 2, measuring cup on.10min / 70°C / sp2
- 4 Remove butterfly whisk. Add honey and mix 5 sec/speed 3.5s / sp3
- 5 Froth 20 sec/speed 8 with measuring cup on.20s / sp8
- 6 Strain through a fine sieve into two mugs. Dust with a pinch of ground cinnamon or turmeric to serve.
Notes
Tips
- Black pepper and coconut oil are not optional, piperine and fat dramatically increase curcumin absorption, which is the whole point of golden milk.
- For a vegan version, swap the honey for maple syrup or coconut sugar.
- Fresh turmeric stains everything, wear gloves when peeling and rinse the bowl immediately after pouring.
- Heating to 70C rather than boiling keeps the milk smooth and preserves more of the volatile compounds in the spices.
- If fresh turmeric is unavailable, substitute 8 g ground turmeric and skip the initial grinding step.
